Advanced Recycling Technology

Enkelas shredder for plastic recycling

Discover how our advanced single-shaft shredders transform the challenges of waste processing into efficient, sustainable solutions for your business.

Typical Applications

Our single-shaft shredders are widely applicable in production and recycling. By internally reducing the size, you lower waste and logistics costs, improve OEE, and increase the value of by-products.

Injection Molding Sprues and Production Waste

Reduce production waste at the source. Less disposal and a faster return on investment (ROI).

Pipes, Profiles, and Sheets (PVC/PE/PP)

Reduce long and thick pieces in one step. Ideal for further processing.

Thick/Rigid Parts and Blocks

High torque and low speed ensure a homogeneous product and low heat generation.

Cardboard, pallets, and containers

Volume reduction and lower logistics costs; robust for continuous use.

Films, big bags, and textiles

Efficiently incorporates ‘difficult’ light materials for consistent output.

Cables and Shredder Feedstock

Pre-step or post-step in lines; uniform particles for separation or extrusion.

Machine Construction

The core of modern waste management is the single-shaft shredder – a precisely designed machine, built to process a variety of materials with remarkable efficiency. Let's explore the advanced components that work together for exceptional performance:

Powerful Shaft

The heart of the system, made from high-quality, extremely strong steel to withstand intense operational demands. This central component transfers power to the cutting elements and maintains structural integrity for thousands of operating hours.

Precision-Designed Blades

Our advanced steel blades combine optimal hardness with exceptional wear resistance. Strategically positioned for maximum cutting efficiency, these blades provide a consistent particle size while minimizing energy consumption.

Ergonomic Feed Hopper

Designed with workflow optimization in mind, our feed hoppers facilitate smooth material intake while prioritizing the safety of the operator. Custom configurations are available to meet your specific processing requirements.

Adaptive Discharge System

The intelligently designed discharge opening ensures a continuous material flow and prevents clogging. Adjustable screen sizes allow you to accurately regulate the size of the output particles for subsequent processes.

Robust Drive System

Our integrated power transmission solution combines high-performance motors with precision reducers and couplings, delivering reliable performance while optimizing energy consumption under varying load conditions.

Principle of Operation

The single-shaft shredder operates on a notably efficient principle that combines multiple mechanical forces to achieve optimal material reduction:

When materials enter through the ergonomically designed feed hopper, they come into contact with the rotating shaft equipped with precision-designed blades. These blades generate powerful cutting and sliding forces that fragment the materials while minimizing heat generation and energy consumption. The materials are further processed in the cutting chamber until they reach the desired particle size, after which they pass through carefully calibrated screens and are discharged through the discharge opening.

This advanced process guarantees consistent output quality and adapts to variations in material properties – a testament to technical excellence.

Find Your Perfect Match: Single-shaft vs. Double-shaft Technology

Single-Axis Shredders

The ideal solution for processing softer and less dense materials such as:

  • Plastic Feedstock and Molding Waste
  • Wooden Pallets and Branches
  • Organic Materials Including Bones

Benefits: Cost-effective operation, lower maintenance requirements, excellent energy efficiency

Double Shaft Shredders

Designed for challenging, dense materials such as:

  • PE Films and PP Pipes
  • HDPE Drums and Rubber Bands
  • Automotive Parts and Electronic Waste

Benefits: Higher throughput capacity, more uniform particle size, superior processing of tough materials

Our technical team can help you determine the perfect configuration based on your specific material properties and processing objectives.

Request Information

Operation

What is the capacity per model?
Typical output ranges from 400–600 kg/h to 1500–2000 kg/h, depending on material, screen size, feed, and selected model configuration.
How much noise does the machine produce?
With sound insulation, the level is often around 70–85 dB(A). Additional enclosures and vibration dampers are available for extra quiet operation.
Which sieve size should I choose?
Choose finer (20–40 mm) for reuse or separation, coarser (40–80 mm) for volume reduction or pre-processing. We advise based on your goal and material.
How often should the blades be sharpened or replaced?
Depending on material and usage. By using reversible/adjustable blades, you extend the service life. In practice, this can vary from a few weeks to months with a 1-shift operation.
Can I integrate with a conveyor belt, blower, or metal detection?
Yes, integration with conveyor belt, cyclone/blower, bigbag or silo and inline metal detection/magnets is possible. The control can be linked.
What about energy consumption and safety?
The actual consumption is often between 40–70% of the peak power, depending on the load. CE-compliant, safety switches on doors and emergency stops are standard.
