Our robust plastic granulators, also known as plastic crushers, are an essential component within the plastic recycling industry. Specifically designed for maximum sustainability, these granulators quickly and efficiently shred various plastic materials into uniform flakes or reusable granulates, significantly improving your recycling process.
These versatile machines are among our most sold equipment and are frequently integrated into complete recycling systems such as PET bottle washing lines and plastic film recycling systems.
How do plastic granulators work?
The core of each granulator is a powerful open rotor equipped with robust blades in a double-shear or V-shaped arrangement, tailored to your needs. As the rotor rotates at high speed (400-600 tpm), the blades continuously cut the plastic material against fixed blades in the cutting chamber until it is small enough to pass through a sieve—standardly between 10 mm and 100 mm, but adjustable to your specific requirements.
Our standard granulators contain 12 rotor blades and 3 fixed blades made of highly durable D2 steel (SDK11 equivalent), ensuring a longer lifespan between sharpening sessions. Maintenance and blade adjustment are simplified by hydraulic access to the cutting chamber.
Applications of plastic granulators
These universal granulators efficiently process various plastic types, including PET bottles, plastic film, and hard plastics. In addition, we offer special wet granulators equipped with improved rubber seals and water spray systems that clean the plastic during the cutting process and simultaneously cool the blades.

Plastic Granulators vs. Shredders
Although both machines reduce plastic, granulators are fast, precise devices ideal for smaller plastics. Due to the high rotation speed, granulators are more sensitive to contaminants such as metals or stones. We therefore recommend installing a magnetic separator above the conveyor system to prevent damage.
Shredders operate at lower speeds, making them suitable for larger plastic pieces and better able to withstand contamination. Shredders are usually used to pre-reduce large plastic pieces, after which granulators ensure the final finer processing.
